I couldn't think of a better way to usher in the Christmas season than to host our first White Elephant Gift exchange party which was held last Friday at our home.
I have had holiday parties with friends in the Bay Area and decided that it was time I made Holiday traditions with the friends that we've made in Folsom.
Though we would have loved to have invited a lot of couples, we decided to keep it small since we live in a town house and our home is half the size than the one we lived in when Moe was with us.
I sent out this email invite:
You're invited to our White Elephant Gift Exchange Party. Come and enjoy delicious appetizers and yummy desserts! So come with your hubby, significant other, or just yourself!

Everyone we invited- came! We only invited four couples and it was the perfect size. I had fun preparing the appetizers and desserts.
My mother has hosted many parties and I learned from her that you should always have more than enough food and that guests should leave with leftovers.
Here was the party's menu:
Bruschetta with Chicken & Tomato
Pigs in a Blanket
Hot Spinach & Artichoke Dip w/ tortilla chips
Assorted Cheese & Crackers
Barbecue Meatballs
Orange Chicken
Desserts: Traditional English Trifle (minus the rum) & homemade Toffee Bars.
The gifts were hilarious; a scary looking stuffed bird, wart removers, half eaten candy bar and KY Jelly (not the kind that you eat with peanut butter)
The party started at 7pm and didn't end until after midnight. Since everyone had so much fun, we decided to make our party an annual Holiday tradition.
The only downside of the party...there were no pictures!
No pictures of the beautifully decorated dining table laden with appetizers, desserts, and candles.
No picture of some of our guests holding their stomachs from laughing so hard.
No picture of RM dancing solo- it was a sight to behold.
All I have is this blog to record this fun event and that's better than nothing.
Next year there will definitely be pictures!

a) Your Thanksgiving looked Great. The food delicious like ALL thanksgiving food always does.
b) I WANT TO BE AT THAT PARTY. what a fun time. Maybe it is a good thing you didn't post photos of all that yummy food, as I am still salivating over the Thanksgiving food.
It is fun I think to have friends that you feel comfortable with having over and sharing a lot of laughter with.
good tradition for sure.
