When Moe was released from the hospital several weeks ago, we thought that would be the last time we would see the inside of an ER, for at least a long time...we were wrong. Last week Moe went back into the ER because he was still experiencing severe headaches.
When he was still experiencing headaches after coming home from the hospital, his doctor said he had spinal headache- nothing to worry about. A spinal headache occurs when spinal fluid leaks through the tiny puncture site from his spinal tap. Most spinal headaches resolve on their own within a few days- it's been nearly a month since Moe had a spinal tap.
So Moe has been home for almost a week undergoing more tests.
When I asked him to describe me his headaches, he told me that it felt like someone was repeatedly kicking him in the head.
He has his good days & bad days. Sometimes the pain is bearable & other times it becomes so painful for him, all he can do is lie in bed, and try to sleep off the pain. In the meantime, Moe's neurologist administered a nerve block, which is a series of injections into the head that should alleviate the pain....it hasn't.
Tomorrow Moe goes in for more tests.
I wish I had a superpower where I can absorb all the hurt that Moe goes through. I'll take his pain any day. Of course I don't have that power.
Instead I give Moe "super power" hugs and affirm to him how much he is loved, and I know that gives him a lot of comfort.
