The end is near (Part 1)

No, I'm not on my deathbed and the world isn't ending- at least not yet. The end of Moe's Scouts 10 year scout career is almost at an end...and I can't wait! Since September, it's been a sprint to the finish line and if you want to achieve your Eagle rank, it has to be done before your 18 years old. Moe still had 9 merit badges to complete and an 18th birthday coming up soon-he had no time to waste!

I don't think anyone thought he would be able to finish, especially me. But he proved me and everyone else wrong. In six months he's completed the following merit badges:

- Camping
- Personal Management
- Personal Fitness

- American Business
- American Heritage
- Communications

- Music

- Photography

- Golfing

- And his Eagle project!

Moe's Eagle project involved installing a water drip irrigation system to about 150 newly planted trees that covered almost 4 acres of land. Many steps were taken before the installation took place; several meetings with city officials, drawing up landscape plans & securing volunteers and supplies.

Moe put together a safety meeting a week before the installation. It was a 45 minute presentation that could have been very boring, but Moe inserted his dry sense of humor that made it enjoyable for everyone.

Scout leaders and members of his scout troop attended the meeting, but what impressed me the most was how many of Moe's friends who are not in scouts or do not go to our church that attended the safety meeting.

Moe's friends were supportive and some of them even showed up when it was time to install the drip irrigation systems which happened on a Saturday morning at 8am!

You know, maybe this is why things unfolded the way they did these past several months for you. This needed a lot of time from both you & RM and how could you have done it before? I'm just so happy for you!
